Siblings?

Since young until today, people have always tell me how jealous they are when they know I am the only child in the family.

I get all the attention.
I get all the TLC.
I get all the things I want and need.
Basically, I get everything in 100% or more.

Some are true, many are myths in my case.

People have also been telling me how troublesome having siblings around, and how sometimes things are unfair.

They have to share everything.
They have no privacy.
They get second/ third hand stuffs.
They do not get the TLC and attention needed.
In short, they feel that they get less than they perceived as required.

It may be true, yet many are plain subjective.

I have listened to so many complaints about having siblings. And I really could not understand why so many are fussing about those who share a family with each other. Let alone feeling that siblings are not dependable at some cases - especially when it comes to dealing issues related with parents.

Putting aside some ill minded and completely useless siblings or family structure, having siblings means sharing your burden with someone that is connected to you in flesh and blood. It frustrates me to listen to people complaining how useless their siblings are, or how they are taking up family's burden up to their own shoulders.

The reason is simple - you do not know how to appreciate the value of sharing, when you were given by God the chance to learn from somewhere so close to your heart.

It pains me sometimes, when things fall apart I have no siblings to share with me. Let alone handling the burden by myself, stay strong, motivated, analyze situations and find the best solutions. It pains me more to see others can share their load of burden and stress with their brothers or sisters. Not mentioning, they thought they are the only one who can keep up the burden and stress, leaving behind siblings' voices.

Appreciate the notion that you get to share, because I can tell you - being an only child also means facing almost everything alone. It takes a lot to keep standing.
